- Both firms that sell the beds have excellent customer service policies.
- Both of these mattresses are hybrids with coils encased in soft layers.
- In terms of stiffness, they’re really similar.
- Breathable mattresses are essential for both mattresses.
Key Differences Between The WinkBed And Helix?
Even though the WinkBed and Helix share a few features, they are not the same mattress. Here are a few examples of how these beds differ.
- When it comes to mattress firmness, the WinkBed has four options, while the Helix Midnight is one of several various Helix models.
- WinkBed provides a more traditional feel, whereas Helix is more like a slow-moving mattress on top.
- For increased lumbar support, the WinkBed has zoning, but the Helix lacks this function.
- The Helix costs less than the WinkBed at full price.
Firmness And Feel Differences
The firmness and feel of a mattress is a simple method to tell if two beds are comparable or different. In order to determine if a mattress is suitable for your chosen sleeping position and other sleep requirements, several elements must be considered. So, let’s compare the firmness and feel of the WinkBed and Helix mattresses!
How Firm Are The WinkBed And Helix Mattresses?
When it comes to firmness, both of these mattresses received a 7 out of 10 rating from us. The industry norm for average firmness is 6.5/10, which indicates that both beds are a little stiffer than the average..
Although firmness can be subjective, it’s a good rule of thumb to keep in mind. You may prefer a harder or softer feel on one or both of these mattresses, depending on your weight and personal preferences.
Sleeping On The WinkBed And Helix Mattresses
Each of these mattresses was personally tested by us. In this section, you’ll find a summary of our work experience in each job.
We slept well on the WinkBed Luxury Firm while reclining on our backs. Zoning added lumbar support that kept our spines in proper alignment during the night.
When trying to sleep on our sides on this mattress, we felt a lot of pressure. The Softer model or another side sleeper mattress should be considered for those who prefer to sleep on their sides.
The WinkBed’s Luxury Firm model provided adequate stomach support. If you want to sleep in this position for a long period of time, the Firmer model would be a better option.
We had a terrific night’s sleep on the Helix Midnight while on board. We found this position to be an excellent mix of comfort and support.
We found the Helix to be more comfortable for side sleeping than the WinkBed. This is presumably due to the slower-moving comfort layers, which provide some figure shaping at the shoulder and hip.
We didn’t get enough spinal support while sleeping on our stomachs on the Helix. People who sleep on their stomachs for a large chunk of the night should opt for a more supportive mattress.
What Do The WinkBed And Helix Mattresses Feel Like?
There is a plush pillow-top on top of the WinkBed, which provides an innerspring feel. The mattress is sensitive and springy, making it easier for sleepers to move around on top of it.
The Helix is a well-balanced hybrid. There is some of the slow-moving feel associated with memory foam in its upper layers. With a little bounce provided by the coils, this mattress isn’t as responsive as the WinkBed.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
On the WinkBed Luxury Firm, back sleepers of average weight can expect some relief from pressure points and plenty of spinal support (particularly superb lumbar support). The Helix mattress is a good option for side sleepers of average weight, as it provides a lot of pressure reduction. For stomach sleepers of average weight, the WinkBed is an excellent choice.
The Helix is a good option for back sleepers of average weight, but the WinkBed is a better option for those who need more support in the lower back. The Helix Midnight is a good option for side sleepers of average weight. The Helix may not be supportive enough for stomach sleepers of ordinary weight.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The WinkBed Luxury Firm is a good option for heavier sleepers, but some users may prefer the WinkBed Plus variant (which is made specifically for larger people). WinkBed may be excessively firm for heavier side sleepers, who are more prone than lighter side sleepers to break through to firmer levels of support beneath. The WinkBed may be enough for stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds, but most people in this category will choose the more supportive WinkBed Plus.
Heavyweight sleepers may find the Helix Midnight uncomfortable, as it is made to accommodate a firmer user base. Even if it isn’t excessively hard for side or stomach sleeping, it’s unlikely to be supportive enough for back or stomach sleeping. The greatest mattresses for heavy individuals can be found on our list of top picks.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Overall, the WinkBed Luxury Firm is a good fit for light sleepers. Side sleepers should find it comfortable and supportive enough, while back and stomach sleepers will benefit from the cushion’s pressure-relieving properties. It’s worth noting, though, that those who sleep on their sides are likely to benefit more from the Helix Midnight.
Helix Midnight is a good fit for all types of light sleepers, including back sleepers. This mattress is ideal for back and stomach sleepers, as well as side sleepers, as it provides a good amount of pressure reduction.
Mattress Construction Differences
The WinkBed Luxury Firm and the Helix Midnight have given us a taste of what it’s like to sleep on their surfaces. Let’s take a closer look at how each of these beds is put together now! Layer by layer, we’ll dissect the architecture of each mattress to see how various materials affect performance and comfort.
WinkBed Luxury Firm has a Tencel cover with many layers of gel-infused foam tufted into the surface of the mattress. The Tencel and the gel infusion assist keep the mattress’s surface cool, while the suppleness of the mattress is immediately apparent.
With its Soft Touch Design cover, the Helix Midnight is (surprise!) quite comfortable. It’s also incredibly permeable.
WinkBed’s cover and pillow-top are both constructed of gel-infused foam to provide the mattress’s comfort layer. This foam, combined with gel, gives some softness to the mattress’s surface and helps keep the sleeper cool.
Memory Plus Foam, a custom Helix blend with the slow-moving feel of memory foam, is the Helix Midnight’s major comfort layer. An additional transition layer of polyfoam offers some bounce to the mattress’s top layer, which is made of memory foam.
Zoned lumbar support is provided by individually-wrapped coils in the support layer of the WinkBed.
Helix’s base layer consists of coils that are individually coiled and reinforced around the perimeter for additional edge support. To support the mattress, these coils are placed over a layer of high-density foam.
A 14-inch difference in height separates the WinkBed from the Helix, which stands at 12 inches.

WinkBed And Helix Performance Differences
There are a few things to keep in mind before making a final decision on either of these mattresses. We put both beds through a battery of tests to see how well they controlled warmth, supported the edges, and transferred motion. Check out the results!
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
This ended up being a draw! Both mattresses have a variety of functions to keep you cool while you sleep. There is plenty of ventilation through the WinkBed thanks to its cooling Tencel cover and gel-infused memory foam. With its cooling cover and coils, the Helix provides plenty of ventilation. Check out our other cooling mattresses if you’re a hot sleeper.
The Helix Midnight is the clear winner in this comparison. In terms of absorbing motion and minimizing disruptions, its memory foam comfort layer does an excellent job. So, it may be beneficial for couples because of this.
WinkBed has greater edge support overall, even though the Helix Midnight has an enhanced perimeter. While sitting or lying down towards the mattress’s edges, we felt more safe.
The WinkBed is expected to prevail. With this mattress, you won’t have to worry about the mattress sagging any more than necessary. As a result of this, WinkBed offers a longer warranty period.
Both the WinkBed and the Helix emitted some off-gassing. Within a few days, this should go away.
We didn’t notice any noticeable noise while moving about on these mattresses at the time of our assessment. The coils in both mattresses may begin to creak as time goes on, but this is not a deal-breaker.
Couples can easily switch positions on the greatest sex mattress. Due of its responsiveness and bounce, WinkBed is the best choice here.
Should I Buy Helix or WinkBed?
Is there a bed out there that’s just right for you? You may want to check out the following recommendations if you’re still unsure of which mattress is best for you.
We Would Recommend Buying Helix if You are Looking for:
- A guided recommendations. Helix provides a guided quiz to assist customers in determining which of their goods best suits their sleeping habits and needs.
- Multiple comfort options. In total, there are nine different options to choose from. For six of these beds, there are deluxe options that include mattress toppers and additional cooling capabilities. The company also offers double-sided items with varying comfort levels on each side, as well as a large-and-tall version.
- Comforting pressure relief. With a little more foam, this choice has a little lower number of coils than the WinkBed. It’s hoped that the first two layers of material would help alleviate pressure points on the body.
We Would Recommend Buying WinkBed if You are Looking for:
- An environmentally friendly product. The cover and foam components of WinkBed are both certified to the highest standards. To minimize their impact on the environment, the springs are made from reclaimed steel.
- Multiple comfort options. Each of the company’s three comfort levels can be found in a variety of ways. Plus-sized models are also available for those who are concerned about their weight when they are asleep.
- Enhanced support. It is expected that a mattress with an edge-to-edge coil structure will provide a stable foundation for sleepers. The coil layer’s many zones of support should also give optimal back support in locations such as the lumbar region, where it’s generally most needed.
That’s all there is to it! Big-and-tall models are available from both manufacturers, which cater to a wide range of customers. For those looking for additional stress alleviation and a guided shopping experience, Helix is the best option.
