High-density memory foam is commonly used in the construction of the more expensive memory foam and hybrid mattresses we evaluate. Most budget mattress-in-a-box options feature memory foam with a density of 4 PCF or less, with some also featuring a density range of 4 PCF to 5.5 PCF.
- Latex, a natural and organic material, is made from the sap of the rubber tree. When working with organic and natural latex, very few chemicals are used in the processing. Our rigorous testing has revealed that these materials are both long-lasting and breathable, while also being surprisingly responsive. Mattresses with layers of organic or natural latex typically cost $1,600 or more. Blended or synthetic latex may be cheaper, but we’ve found that the models made with them don’t offer the same level of comfort or durability as their natural latex counterparts.

If the warranty is prorated, you’ll have to pay a fraction of the full price to get a new mattress that doesn’t have the problem. As a rule, this figure goes up each year by the same amount. As an illustration, if a mattress has a 20-year warranty, but only the first 10 years are covered without any deductions, then in the 11th year the owner will be responsible for paying 55% of the original price (or 5% per year of ownership) to get a new one. The firmness of the mattress can be modified by adding or releasing air from these compartments. Some air mattresses have as many as eight separate chambers, and others have the more common two. The firmness of an air mattress can be adjusted independently on each side.
Unparalleled Personalization: Many contemporary airbeds can be set to any desired level of softness or firmness.
